Master Gardeners to host planting workshop at CCEEC
Join the Penn State Master Gardeners in Carbon County at the Environmental Education Center, 151 E.White Bear Drive, Summit Hill from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday for a workshop titled "It's Time to Plant."
Master Gardeners will teach you best practices for preparing your soil, composting, mulching, companion planting, growing herbs, gardening for bees and butterflies and attracting birds. A question-and-answer session will follow.
Each participant will get to plant their own herb seeds in newspaper pots. The experts will tell you how to care for them and when to plant them outside.
If you are concerned with saving the Monarch butterfly, take home some milkweed seeds offered by Bear Mountain Butterflies.
There will be free information sheets on all of the Master Gardener topics and a free walking tour of the 14 Acre Organic Farm if you are interested.
There will be a materials fee of $8 per person to cover costs. You must preregister by calling 570-325-2788 or email us at CarbonExt@psu.edu. Provide name(s), address, phone number, email and the name of the program you are registering for. Deadline to register is Wednesday.
