23rd Annual Victorian Tea to be held Sunday in Monroe County
The Monroe County Historical Association will present the 23rd Annual Victorian Tea and Luncheon on April 19 at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort, Shawnee on Delaware. A social hour will begin at 1 p.m. with seating beginning at 1:30 p.m. The luncheon will begin at 2 p.m.
This year's program is titled, "Money, Myth, and Madder: Women and Quilting during the Civil War," by Michele McLaughlin and Beth Bacher.
The presentation explores the extraordinary contributions women made during the Civil War. A variety of quilts and visual aids will be used to provide a more complete picture of women's war efforts, the kinds of quilts they made and the impact of the war on women's issues.
The luncheon begins with a Shawnee Inn house salad with organic mixed greens and choice of dressing. The main course will feature penne pasta with smoked chicken and herbed tomato sauce. Scones and minimuffins will be served alongside fresh jams, honey and butter. A collection of herbal teas, coffee, and decaf will be offered throughout the day. Strawberry shortcake will complete the meal.
Drawings and door prizes will conclude the afternoon. Guests are encouraged to wear costumes and/or hats.
The price for the Victorian Tea and Luncheon is $30 per person for historical association members and $35 per person for non-members.
