Free composting class offered in Monroe

Published June 05. 2015 04:01PM

The Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority is holding three free composting classes.

Learn how to turn your scraps into rich soil for planting by recycling fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, egg shells, grass clippings, leaves and more.

Composting your food waste will reduce waste and your cost for disposal and also saving valuable landfill space.

Classes will be held June 13, Sept. 12 and Oct. 10 at the waste authority facility in Blakeslee. Classes start at 9 a.m. and last approximately 1 1/2 hours.

Composter bins will be available to purchase at cost.

To participate, you must register with the Monroe County Waste Authority. Classes are limited to 20 people.
