Jim Thorpe native to sign books Friday

Michael Edward O'Donnell, Ph.D, former Jim Thorpe resident, will hold a book signing of his most recent book, "O'D II: Life's Lessons You don't need a reason to help someone," at the Dimmick Memorial Library from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday.

O'Donnell is a longtime member of the faculty and administration at Clinch Valley College/University of Virginia and a 1960 graduate of Jim Thorpe Area High School.

His first book, "O'D: A Memoir Fifty Years of Teaching and Travel," was published in 2014. A third work is currently in progress.

Both books will be available for purchase and personal signing in the main library room of the library.

Profits from the books will be donated to the library and the O'D/Michael E. O'Donnell Scholarship at the University of Virginia's College at Wise.

The Dimmick Memorial Library is located at 54 Broadway in historic Jim Thorpe

Library hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The library offers reference service, genealogical research, Internet access, free Wi-Fi access, copy machine, public fax, microfilm (local newspapers and census), summer reading program, weekly preschool story time, and more.
