Theft incidents

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating two theft incidents at two Schuylkill County locations.

Troopers said unknown persons entered a PPL substation located along SR443, across from Felty's International, in Pine Grove Township, by cutting a small hole in a fence on the west side of the facility.

Once inside the criminals removed about 60 feet of 4/0 ground wire. The incident occurred sometime between July 22 and Aug. 1, troopers said. No value was listed for the stolen wire.

James Tohill, 32, of Port Carbon, reported a theft occurred at a new home construction site lcoated at 511 Fifth St., in Port Carbon. Removed was several items including a Whacker brand 20-inch plate compactor, concrete tamper; and a 20-foot by four-inch nylon lift sling with attached shackles. The theft occurred sometime between July 20-24.
