FAMILY REUNION
The 17th annual Schupp/Shupp/Shup and Hawk Family Reunion will be held July 19 at the Don Laine Campgrounds in Palmerton.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. Children's games begin at 1 p.m. There will be a business meeting at 2 p.m., with awarding of prizes. A cakewalk will take place at 3 p.m., followed by a Chinese auction at 4.
Food and refreshments will be available at the gift shop, but families are welcome to bring their own. There is an enclosed pavilion with picnic tables and outdoor grills. The pool will be open. Families are asked to bring a handmade item or gift item for the Chinese auction. Also needed are food items, such as fruits, vegetables, pies or cakes that do not need refrigeration for the cakewalk.
"The Genealogy of Conrad and Elizabeth (Borger) Hawk 1744-1990" will be for sale.
Atwood James Shupp, reunion president, will be on hand to gather family updates for a future Hawk book, and to update the out-of-print book, "Early German American Schupp/Shupp/Shup Families and Their Descendants From the 1600s to the Present."
