Get ready to exhibit at Carbon fair

Carbon County and West Penn Township, Schuylkill County adults and youth are eligible to submit entries in the following categories in the Carbon County Fair:

Flowers, vegetables, fruit, arts and crafts, photography, needlework, canning, pickles and relishes, cakes, hay and grain and many more.

There is even a category for homemade wines and antique farm equipment.

In addition, organizers are looking for group exhibits, including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H Clubs, schools and athletic groups.

Your exhibits help make the fair special.

Children are also encouraged to enter their school artwork in the Carbon County Fair, where they can receive ribbons and prize money.

There is no entry fee for the youth department.

The following is a list of contests for youth to enter this year:

• Button Craft Contest

• Jazzy Jar Contest

• Clay Flower Pot Contest

• Snazzy Sneaker Contest

• Duct Tape Contest

• Decorated Bowling Pin

• Legos and Knex

• Painting and Handicrafts

• PA Preferred Chocolate Cookie, Brownie or Bar Baking Contest

• Chocolate Chip Cookie Contest

The following is a list of contests for adults:

• Ball Fresh Preserving Award Contest for canned fruit, vegetables, pickles, jams and jellies

• Red Star Yeast Bread Contest

• Angel Food Cake Contest

• 28th Blue Ribbon Apple Pie Contest

• PA Preferred Chocolate Cake Baking Contest

• Senior Special Baking Contest Pumpkin Cake

• Quilt Block Theme Contest "Honoring Our Troops" using red, white, and blue fabric

• Quilted Placemat Contest

• Pillowcase Challenge Contest

Only preregistered entries will be accepted between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Aug. 2, which is the day before the opening of the fair.

The fair will be held on Aug. 3-8.

Entry forms and fees must be postmarked by Saturday.
