Dandy dandelion at St. Peter's Union Church
"If you don't want to be seated with your wives or husbands, I can arrange that too," said Larry Hoffman as he called out the numbers of people to be seated at St. Peter's Union Church, Lynnville, Lynn Township, on April 11 for a dandelion dinner.
At 3 p.m. as the people were in the kitchen adding the finishing touches, the church was already well filled with people enjoying the gospel music of Jack and Friends.
Dinner tickets have numbers and Larry Hoffman called people when a table is cleared. Kyle Steber meets them at the door of the church and escorts them to the Fellowship Hall where he points out their table.
Ann Fortney said she tried the dandelion coffee, which is an instant product. She thought the new product was good though some disagreed with her assessment.
Jack Snyder of Jack and Friends said Hoffman had been up since 4 a.m. at a yard sale but he didn't sell any grass.
Snyder said it was really great-this thing the church does, because it lets him get to see the people he only sees once a year when he is there.
Howard Truitt played the theme from the Lone Ranger on the harmonica. Snyder said people should recall that when the Lone Ranger shot someone on television there was never any blood and that was probably because of the silver bullets.
He asked what a rabbit walking backward is called but did not get any answer. It is a receding hareline.
By 4:30 p.m. there was a line waiting to get into the church.
