Literacy Day at Ice House
Mock Turtle Marionette Theater presents Literacy Day at the Charles Brown IceHouse in Bethlehem at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The program "Book, Beast and Puppet," is accompanied by a puppet-making workshop.
The puppet play conjures up a parade of marionette animal characters: Brer Rabbit, the Cat and the Fiddle, the Bremantown musicians and many others, as early readers move deep into the World of Books.
There, through puppetry, storytelling and audience participation, children will learn just what makes books so wonderful and important.
After the play, children will move on to make lion puppets in the puppet-making workshop.
Tickets are $5 for the show and $7.50 for the show and workshop combination
This year's family series has been supported by donations from Just Born, Lehigh County, The Century Fund and The Lehigh County Arts Council.
The Charles Brown IceHouse is located at 56 River Road, Sand Island, Bethlehem.
