Mother's Day
There are probably as many gift ideas for moms as there are children to give them.
The one thing that seems to be the most popular, however, are gifts from the heart. Whether they were purchased from a store, or fashioned from paste and glitter, our moms will love them.
We asked readers to share some of the best gifts they have ever received, or would like to receive.
"My best Mother's Day present ever (besides having kids obviously) was an infinity styled mother's ring with my children's birthstones on either side and mine all through the middle," says Heather Lynn Shore.
"I am very proud to wear it and be reminded every day that my kids and husband picked this out for me!"
Katie Arnold says she would be happy if someone else "did the darn dishes," while Tiffani Burnett-Velez would be happy with a little more sleep.
Tara Cellini has fond memories of her best Mother's Day gift, which was a dinner out with her mother and father, husband and four children.
"The gift I received was the love I felt in my heart as I was surrounded by my family. This was a gift that I will remember for years to come. I remember my father's smile as my children called him Pop Pop.
"I remember my mother drinking her hot tea while my kids opened her creamers. I remember playing tick-tack-toe and I spy with my kids as we waited for our food," says Cellini.
"My father passed away on Father's Day in 2013 and my mother has Alzheimer's. My boys are grown, both in college. My daughters' memories of my parents will fade away, because they're young.
"Giving the best Mother's Day gift doesn't have to cost anything. To have my father and mother back, to me is priceless," says Cellini.
"This memory will live in my heart forever. I will continue to have the best Mother's Day gift each and every day of the year, because I realize how precious my family is. Every day is a gift."
Sarah Elmore also has a fond memory of the time when her son, who was 4 at the time, got her a Barbie doll, for "him" to play with.
For Ginger Outlaw, it's the opportunity to spend time with her kids.
"I would like to just enjoy the day with the kids and go out to a nice place to eat. But Mother's Day is every day for me and that's taking care of my kids and enjoying the time I got with them."
Marge Ayers says her best Mother's Day gift is when her adult children are able to attend church services with her on Mother's Day.
"My favorite Mother's Day gift was a half-dead blackberry bush that my son, then 11, dug out of the woods, put it in a pot and gave it to me," says Sarah Streby.
"I planted it and it thrived. For the last two years we have picked so many blackberries and it has grown and spread, as my love for my children does."
Stephanie Stilwell says she received her favorite Mother's Day gift a couple years ago.
"My two sons asked what I wanted for Mother's Day. All I asked for was for both of them to take some time and write down in a letter to me exactly how they felt about our relationship and how they feel I am as their mom!
"I received the two most special letters from the two most special sons."
Stilwell has the letters framed on her wall.
"Till this day I still cry when I read them. The best gifts don't have to be expensive, they just need to be from the heart," says Stilwell.
