‘Gift of the Magi’ in Weatherly Sunday

Published November 16. 2018 12:27PM

A special presentation of Maranatha’s “The Gift of The Magi” will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Centenary United Methodist Church, Carbon Street, Weatherly.

Open to the community, this program will celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday while helping the audience prepare for the Christmas season.

This Christmas classic is the story of two newlyweds who find themselves on Christmas Eve with no Christmas present for the other and little money to purchase one.

Della, as portrayed by Kimberly Lapham, knows what she would like to buy for her husband, Jim, but it costs more than the few pennies she has saved. Jim, played by Michael Lapham, seeks to find the perfect gift for his wife but knows he too is limited by the cost.

As the story unfolds, narrator Lois Neidermyer will engage the audience in becoming a part of the drama as well. The audience will be invited to sing Christmas carols, and some members will have the opportunity to help complete the cast.
