2 charged in shooting outside Pottsville bar; 4 injured
Two people have been charged with attempted homicide after a shooting outside a Pottsville bar.
State police at Frackville said the incident occurred at 2:15 a.m. Saturday after an argument outside Woody Bar and Backyard Paradise on Peacock Street.
Police said George Barrow, 28, was in a shootout with an unnamed suspect. The suspect was shot multiple times in the torso and became unable to shoot. Mark Stevens, 25, picked up the suspect’s gun and began shooting at Barrow, who was retreating into the bar.
Barrow continued shooting at Stevens. A Pottsville police officer arrived and discharged his gun.
The suspect was flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest where he is in critical condition. Stevens was shot in the leg and was taken to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest where he is in stable condition.
Barrow was unharmed.
Two victims were injured during the shooting. The first victim, a 33-year-old man, was hit by a ricochet bullet and had a minor head injury. He was treated and released.
The second victim, a 44-year-old man, was shot in the arm. He was flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest, where he is listed in stable condition.
Stevens has been charged with aggravated assault. Barrow is charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
