Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash at 2:23 p.m. Saturday on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.

State police at Lehighton said a 2015 Subaru Outback operated by Paul G. Lagasse, 62, of Kemblesville, was stopped for traffic when it was struck from behind by a 2016 Ford Explorer operated by Gerald L. Funk, 68, of Ashfield.

The Explorer was rear-ended behind by a 2008 Dodge Nitro driven by Dimitri A. Benitsch, 20, of Jim Thorpe.

Police said the Nitro and Explorer both sustained disabling damages while the Subaru sustained minor damages.

Police said Benitsch and Lori L. Funk, 58, of Ashfield, a passenger in the Explorer, were injured and were treated at the scene by EMS and transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton.

Police said Benitsch was cited for multiple Motor Vehicle Code violations.
