2 injured in Coaldale incident

Two people were injured Monday evening, one seriously when struck by a van in Coaldale.

The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. in a parking lot of the Schuylkill County Housing Authority in the 400 block of East Ridge Street. People at the scene report it may have been a father and daughter walking in the lot. Both victims were treated at the scene by two Lehighton paramedic units with one being flown from the scene by Life Flight helicopter to a Lehigh Valley area trauma center.

The Coaldale fire department established a landing zone at Pappy’s minimart along Route 209. After striking the pair the van exited the lot driving over a sign crossing East Ridge street mounting a curb comming to rest on a lawn. Coaldale police are investigating the incident.
