DUI arrests reported

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on several driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by officers in recent days in Monroe County..

On Sunday, Nov. 29, about 2:34 a.m. officers responded to a reported accident along SR314 and Summit Ave., in Pocono Summit, Coolbaugh Township. Upon arrival officers found a vehicle on its roof. The driver was identified as Michael Torres, 21, of Pocono Summit. Torres said he swerved his vehicle to avoid a deer while northbound.

Police found Torres to be under the influence and he failed field sobriety tests. Torres was asked to submit to a blood test, which he refused. He will be charged with DUI, police added.

On Nov. 26 about 12:34 a.m. police observed a vehicle pulling out from Fork Street, onto SR611 northbound in Mt. Pocono. After following the vehicle officers observed it almost striking a side curb twice and two different pedestrian crossing signs. A traffic stop was made and the driver identified as John Mollica, 52, of Mt. Pcoono. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, where he submitted to a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending the test results.

Also on Nov. 26 about 1:48 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle along SR611 for a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as Sean Snyder, 24, of St. Petersburg, Fla. Snyder was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was asked to take a blood test, but refused. He will be charged with DUI, police said.

At 2:46 a.m .on Nov. 26 officers on patrol in the area of SR940 and SR115 observed a vehicle in the parking lot of the Choice service station after business hours. Officers approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Michael King, of Thornhurst, Lackawanna County. King was found to be under the influence but refused to submit to field sobriety tests. Also observed in the car was a six pack of beer and a glass of beer in the cup holder.

Police said DUI, driving under suspension-DUI related and driving without insurance will be filed against King.

On Sunday, Nov. 30, about 1:02 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop along SR314 south at Summit Ave., in Pocono Summit. The driver was identified as Catherine May, 57, of Stroudsburg. She was found to be under the infleunce and failed field sobriety tests. She was then transported to the county DUI center for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.

On Saturday, Nov. 28, about 1:17 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop along SR611 and Fork St., in Mt. Pocono. The driver was identified as Ryan Nicholls, 26, of Tannersville. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
