Father, daughter cited in Tamaqua

A Tamaqua father and daughter were cited by police on Nov. 23 after officers were dispatched for a possible drug overdose.

Sharon Ritter of 305 Race St., called police at 11:10 p.m. to report that her daughter, Christine Ritter, had taken too many Percocet tablets. Officers responded to the home but were unable to locate the younger Ritter, who had left the premises.

At 11:34 p.m. Mrs. Ritter called again to say her daughter had returned home. Officers responded and found Ms. Ritter on the floor. She was unresponsive to the officers's attempts to speak to her and the officer called for an ambulance. At that point Ms. Ritter woke up and said she hadn't taken any pills but had been drinking vodka. She refused EMS treatment and started a confrontation with the officer.

As a result of her uncooperative behavior she was handcuffed and taken into custody. At that time her father, Richard Ritter, 44, began interfering with the officer, earning him a citation for disorderly conduct.

Ms. Ritter was transported to the police station and was later released. She was cited for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
