Shafer's Pharmacy first to donate to Tamaqua holiday fund
Lee Shafer, center, of Shafer's Pharmacy, Tamaqua, presents a check to Serge Chrush, president, Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce and Linda Yulanavage, Chamber executive director, on Monday morning. The donation will be used to help defray the cost of operating the community's downtown holiday lights. The Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce Holiday Lighting Fund is an annual appeal to area businesses, clubs, organizations and individuals to help pay up to $2,000 in electrical costs associated with the downtown holiday lighting. Shafer's Pharmacy, serving the area since 1946, has been a supporter of the fund since its inception. The lights, coordinated by Tamaqua Borough, are illuminated Thanksgiving week and removed by the end of January, weather permitting. More information about the lighting fund is available at (570) 668-1880.
