Sobriety checkpoint conducted
The North Central Pa. Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce and Expanded DUI/Underage Drinking Enforcement Program has released the following information from a sobriety checkpoint held Nov. 25 in Schuylkill Haven. The checkpoint was a joint effort between Pennsylvania State Police and local law enforcement agencies.
Seven departments were represented by 22 officers.
A total of 1263 vehicles were contacted with 77 detained. Of those, 15 motorists were tested, resulting in 6 adult DUI arrests. Officers issued 1 citation for underage drinking, 19 traffic citations, 2 seat belt citations, made 5 criminal arrests and issued 53 warnings.
Sobriety checkpoints and Roving DUI patrols will also be conducted through Dec. 6 on state routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 309, 443, 895, 125, 25, 924 and 54.
Travelers are reminded to dial 911 if they suspect a drunk driver.

The sobriety checkpoints and Roving DUI patrols are funded through the state Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
