Nine enter guilty pleas and are sentenced in Schuylkill

Nine people who entered guilty pleas recently in the Schuylkill County court were sentenced by Judge Charles M. Miller as follows:

Steven E. Miller, 37, Muir, Porter Township, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia when stopped by Tower City police last April 13, was placed on strict probation for 12 months and ordered to pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund and court costs.

Richard Warren Weiss, 33, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of retail theft from Redner's Market, North Manheim Township, was placed on strict probation for 12 months, pay $100 to the CJEA fund and must not trespass on any Redner's property.

Richard Allen Werner, 20, Orwigsburg, on charges of criminal conspiracy to commit access device fraud, access device fraud and receiving stolen property, was placed on strict probation for 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund and court costs.

Mark Patrick Powanda, 48, Port Carbon, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia when stopped by Cpl. Leo Luciano, state police, on Water and Valley streets, New Philadelophia, last April 2, was placed on strict probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund and $100 to SAE fund and pay court costs.

Suzanne Clair Hibbler, 38, Pottsville, on charges of criminal conspiracy and theft by unlawful taking three packs of cigarettes was placed on strict probation for 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund and make restitution of $40 to Way Mart Food Store, Minersville.

James Robert Shivelhood, 29, Locust Dale, Butler Township, on a charge of forgery was placed on strict probation for two years, pay $50 to the CJEA fund and court costs. He was cited by Trooper Dennis Grimm with forging prescriptions to obtain drugs.

He entered guilty pleas to three other forgery charges and received a sentence of 12 months probation on each but they run concurrent.

Jason Brad Lucas, 31, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance he was placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $50 to the CJEA fund, pay cost of prosecution and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. On a second charge of possession drug paraphernalia was sentenced to serve 12 months on probation to run concurrent.

Michael Donaldson Sr., 53, Saint Clair, on a charge of harassing Tammy Moerder, Saint Clair, was fined $100 and court costs and pay $50 to the CJEA fund.

Jill Steffie, 25, Frackville, on three counts of driving under the influence (DUI) was sentenced to serve nine days in the Schuylkill County prison beginning Thursday, Dec. 3, and when released to serve 18 months on probation, pay $900 to SAE fund, $150 to CJEA fund, $180 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete the alcohol highway safe driving program and receive intensive outpatient counseling, pay $3,000 in fines and her license is suspended 30 months.

Each defendant must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee.
