Tamaqua Borough workers Jack Steele, left, and Earl Edmondson place temporary stop signs at intersections in Tamaqua during the Thursday morning power outage. Thousands of people were without electricity for several hours on Thursday morning when high winds downed trees and power lines. Rush Township and Tamaqua were hardest hit by the power failure. PPL Electric said over 5,000 customers in Schuylkill County were affected.
