Flurry of incidents in Lansford
Lansford police had a quiet evening on Dec. 1 until a flurry of incidents that began at about 9 p.m.
At 9 p.m., police were called to the Palace Restaurant for an unruly patron. The man was told to calm down, but started getting loud and cursing, said officer Chris Ondrus. He punched a restaurant window, damaging it, then took off prior to police arrival. A witness identified the man as Jerald Davis. Police are investigating.
At 9:46 p.m., police received a call on a retail theft at Boyer's Market. The actor tried to flee, but was pulled over by Coaldale police. He was identified as Charles Haupt. It was not his first arrest for retail theft, Ondrus said. Haupt also faces charges of driving without a license and unauthorized use of prescription pills that he had in his possession.
At about same time, police received a call about an assault, with a man down in the 200 block of W. Ridge St. Police identified the man as Robert Heintzelman of Lansford. The scuffle apparently involved another male actor; on whom police have leads. They ask that anyone who has information about the incident call them at 570-645-5844. All calls will be kept confidential.
Heintzelman was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for treatment of head injuries. The other man fled toward Patterson street through an alleyway before police arrived.
During the incident, Sharon Card of 315 W. Ridge St. kept interfering as police tried to help Heintzelman. She was charged with persistent disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
At about the same time, Coaldale police, who were assisting Lansford police, reported that their cruiser was almost struck at the intersection of Center and Patterson streets. The individual allegedly involved was pulled over and arrested for DUI. He was identified as Rodney Green, 39, of 367 W. Ridge St., Lansford. Green became combative, even after he was handcuffed, and tried to pick a fight with police. Charges are pending results of a blood test.
