Monroe break-in being probed

State police at Lehighton are investigating a burglary that occurred at a Monroe County residence.

Troopers said the home of Constance Ann Hasara, 51, of 216 Beech Lane, Kunkletown, Polk Township, was entered through a basement window sometime between Dec. 2 and 4.

Removed from the home was an oak jewelry box which contained an Opal ring and earrings, a white gold and diamond cross and two 1800s silver dollars. Total value of the missing items was set at $350.

Troopers are also investigating an incident at the residence of Michele E. Achterman, 51, of Box 7321A. Golden Eagle Drive, Ross Township R.7.

Unknown criminals attempted to gain entry to the home through an exterior door and a basement window but failed. The incident occurred sometime between 3:20 and 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 2.
