Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on three crashes investigated by troopers along Schuylkill County roadways.

A one vehicle crash was reported about 4:50 a.m. on Dec. 5 along E. Adamsdale Road, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Marco P. Buergers, of Cressona, was driving a 1995 Saab 900 eastbound, when, for unkown reasons, the car went onto the shoulder and struck a tree. The car then slid down an embankment and came to rest.

Buergers was not injured. He was cited for roadways laned for traffic.

A crash was reported at 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, along SR183, in Cressona. Troopers said Robert G. Mahalchick, 47, of Minersville, was northbound when he failed to observe another vehicle stopped in his lane of travel. His 2004 Dodge Durango struck the rear of a 2003 Suzuki Vitara driven by Twyla A. Bair, 71, of Pottsville. No one was injured but both vehicles were disabled by the damages.

Another crash was reported on Tuesday, about 12:51 p.m., at the intersection of state routes 209 and 901 in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Michael Smith, 27, of Minersville, was northbound on 209 approaching the intersection at 901 in a 2003 Ford Taurus. Troopers said Smith attempted to turn left while Andrew Moyer, 32, also of Minersville, was westbound in a 2003 Dodge Neon and Robert Ryan, 65, of Heckshersville, was eastbound in a 1998 GMC pickup truck.

Troopers said Smith failed to yield the right-of-way following stopping at a stop sign and pulled into the intersection. His Ford was struck by the Dodge and then the GMC.

A passenger with Smith, Tara Smith, 27, same address, and Moyer sustained minior injuries. No one else was injured. Damages were disabling to all the vehicles, troopers added.

Smith was cited, troopers said.
