Slatington man among 20 to enter guilty pleas
A Slatington man pleaded guilty recently in the Schuylkill County court to failing to carry out a contract for a West Penn Township property owner. Twenty other defendant's also entered guilty pleas to criminal charges filed against them. President Judge William E. Baldwin accepted the guilty pleas but deferred sentences to a later date and requested the adult probation department prepare a presentence investigative (PSI) report on each defendant. They were:
Travis Alan Long, 56, Slatington, is charged with theft by deception and deceptive business practice by Patrolman Jason Lorah, West Penn Township police, for failing to complete a contract to put up a fence at 74 Stonelhedge Lane, West Penn Township.
Matthew Livingston, 24, of 34 Water St., New Philadelplhia, is charged with theft of leased property consisting of a television set and sofa from Rent-A-Center, Pottsville, as charged by Patrolman Joseph Murton Jr., Pottsville police.
Lauren Lin Newhard, 24, of 50 Wiggan St., New Philadelphia, is charged with receiving stolen property by Trooper Chad M. Smith.
Heather M. Arias-Maravilla, 32. 19 S. D Street, Mahanoy City, is charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and careless driving. She was cited by Patrolman Michael Dissinger, Mahanoy City police.
Hans C. Deibler, 21, Donaldson, Tremont Township, is charged with DUI, careless driving , underage drinking and failing to use safety belt which were brought by Cpl. Rahn Richards, state police, when stopped in December 2007 in East Norwegian Township. He previously was in the Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition (ARD) program, which is reserved for first offenders but he was removed because of failing to carry out the terms of his probation sentence.
Ramon Garcia Jr., 32, Pottsville, is charged with possession of a controlled substance and public drunkenness as brought by Patrolman Mark OToole, Pottsville police. Garcia previously was in the ARD program.
Keith Burton Weider Jr., 43, Pottsville, is charged with sexual abuse of children and criminal use of communication (cell phone) as brought by Det. Steven B. Guers, Pottsville police.
Kimberly Faith Aregood, 41, Schuylkill Haven, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance (CS) and possession as filed by Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.
Jason S. Pesavage, 31, Upper Shaft, Shenandoah, is charged with burglary, criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property as filed by Chief Matthew Nestor, Shenandoah police. The court ruled the charges of theft and receiving stolen property are underlying charges to burglary and no additional penalty shall be imposed.
Jennifer Ost, 32, Pottsville, is charged with DUI by Patrolman Eugene M. Yourey, Pottsville police.
Charles Welna, 23, Shenandoah, is charged with two counts each of acquiring or obtaining possession of a CS, forgery, receiving stolen property and possession as cited by Patrolman Brian Reno, Pottsville police.
Michael Scott Hendry, 44, Pottsville, is charged with DUI by Patrolman Kenneth Jacoby, Schuylkill Haven police.
Enrique Ortiz Jr., 39, Girardville, is charged with DUI, careless driving, duty of driver in emergency response area and obedience to authorized person directing traffic as brought by Trooper Scott Grochowski when stopped in Boston Run Village, Mahanoy Township.
Kimberly Faith Good, 41, Schuylkill lHaven, is charged with delivery of a CS and brought by Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.
Charles A. Welna Jr., 23, Shenandoah, is charged with two counts each of criminal attempt to commit, acquire or obtain a CS and forgery by Patrolman Joseph Hall, Shenandoah police.
Garrett Thomas Peck, 22, Hazleton, is charged with DUI, driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked, failing to use his seat belt and violating the maximum speed limit as brought by Trooper Scott Grochowski when stopped on Interstate 81 in West Mahanoy Township.
Maurice Jevon Oates, 30, Bethlehem, is charged with DUI or alcohol and drugs, violating restrictions on alcoholic beverages in vehicle, failing to have driver's license and failing to obey traffic control device as brought by Patrolman Richard J. Pugh, Pottsville police.
Mark Tophoney, Ashland, is charged with DUI, failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic, failing to have car insurance and violating stop sign as filed by Patrolman Michael O'Neill, Girardville police.
Benjamin Paul Kline, 23, Pottsville, is charged with dui, driving while license suspended and failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic as brought by Trooper Michael D. Marinchak.
Kearny Madera, 21, New York City, is charged with DUI, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of motor vehicle and driver required to be license as filed by Chief Matthew Nestor, Shenandoah police.
