Two persons were arrested following a traffic stop in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police officers stopped a vehicle about 12:39 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, along SR115 at Poplar Drive for an equipment violation. The driver was identified as Nicholas Alexander MacDougall, 24, of Kingston. A passenger, and owner of the vehicle, was identified as Nicole Roberts, 21, also of Kingston.

Police detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. Roberts consented to a vehicle search. Found was a brown paper bag containing marijuana.

Officers determined that MacDougall was under the influence of marijuana and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, where he consented to a blood test.

Roberts and MacDougall were both charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The DUI charge against MacDougall is pending test results, police added.
