Icy roads cause Schuylkill crashes

Icy road conditions caused numerous accidents along Schuylkill County roadways Sunday morning.

State police at Frackville issued a press release stating troopers responded to 11 crashes of varying severity on county roadways. There were no fatalities or serious injuries reported in any of the crashes.

Troopers said the only significant road closure occurred at Exit 124 in Frackville, where the ramp for SR61 south from Interstate 81 was closed for about three hours due to commercial vehicle collisions.

Troopers said volunteer members of several fire companies, fire police and ambulance corps assisted troopers at several locations during the storm.
