Palmerton girl crowned Miss Snowflake

Karissa Nenscel, 8, is the winner of the 2009 Miss Snowflake Pageant, held Dec. 7 at the Lehighton annex building in Lehighton.

She was presented with a tiara, sash and trophy.

A dozen other girls participated in the second annual pageant, sponsored by the United Way.

Karissa is the daughter of Jennifer and Travis Nenscel of Palmerton.

She is a third grade student at Towamensing Elementary School, Palmerton, where she was on the principal's list for the first marking period.

She attends classes at the Kenlin Dance Academy. She enjoys modeling, camping, reading, helping others and doing crafts.

She would like to persue modeling in the future.
