Village at Palmerton hosts Family Christmas Party

There's nothing quite like a hearty meal, holiday music and a visit from Jolly Old Saint Nick to evoke the Christmas spirt.

Indeed, there was a holiday atmosphere that permeated from the Family Christmas Party hosted by the Village at Palmerton on Saturday.

About 170 people were on hand for the annual event, according to Jennifer Ebert, director of marketing and admissions for the assisted living facility.

While the meal was no doubt the main attraction, the event also featured piano music performed by Linda Schwartz; music, comedy and illusions from George Reiger Jr., and last but not least, a visit from Santa.

Ebert said the event has proved to be a big hit with the residents and their families.

"This is to bring families in, because this is their home," Ebert said. "It's a big Christmas party that's all about love, family, and sharing."

Ebert said the event is held on an annual basis to "show our love and gratitude for our patients."

Resident Francis Vargo said she enjoyed the festivities immensely.

"I love it; it's the most wonderful place, and the party is beautiful," Vargo said. "Everybody is being friendly, I like the entertainment, the food is excellent, the people are nice, and I'm going to miss it."

Steve and Phyllis Roman of Whitehall said they attended the event with their son, Dominic Roman, along with his wife, Lori, and son, D.J., to visit their aunt Sophie, who was to soon turn 99 years old.

"We're very pleased with the congeniality, and the service shown to the people," Steve Roman said. "We think it's a wonderful place."
