Schuylkill driver facing charges
A Schuylkill County driver is facing charges following a crash involving four vehicles, one of which caught fire. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the accident occurred about 3:11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 119 E. Center St. (SR125), in the village of Donaldson, Frailey Township.
Troopers said Kip S. Ney, 27, of Valley View, was driving a 2003 Ford F150 pickup truck northbound while John Rountree, 44, of Minersville, operating a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier, was stopped in the middle of the road with his four-way hazard lights on. He was in the process of delivering newspapers, troopers said.
Ney's truck struck the rear of the Cavalier forcing it into a parked 2006 Mitsubishi Raider, which was then pushed into a parked 2001 Chevrolet Blazer. Both parked vehicles are owned by Robert Leffler, of Donaldson.
After the crash Ney fled the scene but was later located at his home and transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center South, Pottsville, for treatment of an injury and also for a blood test. Rountree was also injured and taken to the medical center for treatment.
Upon impact the Cavalier caught fire, troopers said.
Troopers said charges will be filed against Ney.
