Rush meets to tackle spending plan

Published December 17. 2009 05:00PM

Rush Township supervisors will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday to tackle the proposed 2010 budget for the last time.

The $2 million spending plan came up for discussion at a public meeting earlier this week, but when Supervisor Shawn Gilbert moved adopt it, fellow supervisors Steve Simchak and William Sanchez Jr. did not support the motion, allowing it to fail.

The budget must be in place by Dec. 31.

Also, supervisors on Tuesday agreed to rescind a Nov. 17 motion that reduced the secretary/treasurer position from full-time to part-time and eliminated benefits. The Nov. 17 motion also reduced the road foreman's job to part-time; that portion of the motion was not rescinded.
