Three enter guilty pleas in Schuylkill County Court
Three men entered guilty pleas to criminal charges before Judge D. Michael Stine in the Schuylkill County court recently with one immediately sentenced and the two others having sentencing deferred to a later date.
Christopher Lee Phillips, 27, Gilberton, pleaded guilty to charges of obstruction of the administration of the law and tampering with evidence and was sentenced to serve one to two years in a state correctional institution, pay a fine of $100 and court costs, and pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund.
On a charge of driving while his operating privileges were suspended, he was fined $200 plus $50 costs. Phillips was cited by Patrolman John Hayes, Shenandoah police, with making a false report to police and concealing a vehicle sought for investigation.
On a charge of retail theft from Boyer's IGA Store, Shenandoah, he was sentenced to serve eight to 24 months but it runs concurrent with the first sentence. He must pay an additional $50 to the CJEA and a $50 cost to the district attorney's office for a bench warrant.
Steward Steckley Jr., 39, Pottsville, was charged by Cpl. Dennis Wiederhold, Pottsville police, with failure to comply with regulations which apply to a sexual offender.
Donald C. Howley Jr., 42, Mahanoy City, is charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol by Sgt. John Kaczmarczyk, Mahanoy City police,
Both men have been ordered to appear in court on Feb. 22 for sentencing. Meanwhile, the court ordered a pre-sentence investigation report prepared on each one by the adult probation office.
