Cookies contest is part of the S.S. Peter and Paul School's Christmas Festival

Judging a cookie contest is a tough job, but someone has to do it. The S.S. Peter and Paul School in Lehighton held its annual Christmas Festival on Dec. 12 and 13 and invited the community to enter cookies in a Cookie Contest.
There were four categories of Bar, Drop, Filled and Decorated cookies and 16 entries in all. The cookies were judged on appearance, taste, creativity and texture.
The winners were: Karla Wenig/Bar; Allison Wehr/Drop; Jodie Zeigenfuss/Filled; Nola Barilla, a fifth grader at S. S. Peter and Paul School won Best Decorated.
The judges were Noraine McGee, aka Grandma of Grandma's Bakery and Cafe of Lehighton and Lisa Palfey, owner and operator of sugarlily cookie company of Cunningham.
"It was hard to choose because they all tasted so good," says Lisa.
Lori Malsch, an SS Peter and Paul volunteer said that there would be prizes for each of the winners, which were all donations from area businesses and she can't thank them enough for their generosity.
"This was very interesting. They had a nice array of cookies but more people should enter next year so we'll have more cookies to taste," says Grandma.
