Mallard Market owner Frank Kuhn had an important role to play on Saturday, when he presented a check of $2,001.92 to the Schuylkill-Carbon Marine Corps League Detachment 626 for their annual Toys for Tots project.

Kuhn said that he adds some interest for employees to sell the most donor cards by offering to give the highest seller a $50 gift card.

"This year, they were so close that I gave the second highest a $25 gift card," said Kuhn.

The highest seller was Diane Moser, while the second highest was Amber Recker.

"They were neck and neck until the last day," added Kuhn.

Kuhn said that his father was a Marine in World War II, which is how he feels connected to the Marine Corps League and Toys for Tots.

"I feel that connection because of my father," he said. "The project is near and dear to me. I also do this to honor the Marines past service to our country."

Kuhn said that Mallard Market matches up to $500 of the funds collected through the donor cards.
