Nolehi, Tamaqua, Palmerton nab wins

Northern Lehigh picked up wins in both boys and girls basketball, while Palmerton and Tamaqua also notched wins on the girls side on Monday night.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Pen Argyl-No. Lehigh

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 10-point first frame lead and eventually kept the Green Knights at bay for the 80-38 win.

NL (3-2, 2-1), received 24 points from Nick Pappas and 21 from Jordan Waylen to cruise.

Kyle Muller tallied 15 for the winless Green Knights, with Joey Wagner adding ten.

The 'Dawgs pulled out the JV win, 64-26.

The Lady Spartans struck early and often to upend the Panthers 59-19 in Schuylkill action.

Kendall Devaney led the Spartan offense with 15 points, while Abby Noble chipped in with nine.

For Panther Valley, Abbey Markovich tallied seven.

North Schuylkill won the JV game, 51-20.

The Lady Raiders utilized a strong 18-7 fourth period to pull away and seal the win over Pottsville, 57-42.

Amy Zehner led the charge for the locals with 19 points. Elissa Streisel hit for 13, while Cassie Eroh added 11.

For the Crimson Tide, Elizabeth Lurwick led with 15 points.

Tamaqua won the preliminary contest, 43-35 with Christine Streisel scoring 16.

The Lady Knights made things interesting as they challenged the Lady 'Dawgs down the stretch, before eventually faling by a 56-44 loss.

Northern Lehigh's Sonya Josephson poured in 23 points to lead the locals, while Aimee Oertner added 15.

For PA, Laura Cinelli dropped 19.

Palmerton's Kelsey Hay had 14 of her team's 26 second half points to help the Lady Bombers to the 58-53 Colonial League win.

Hay finished the night with 24 points. Teammate Kristen Romano's 11, and eight apiece from Casey Rinfret and Katie Reimer provided a well-rounded effort.

Northwestern was led by 26 points from Sara Jones.
