Harhart announces seasonal job opportunities for college students at PennDOT
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is now accepting applications from college students, as well as a limited number of non-students, for summer employment, according to Rep. Julie Harhart (R-Lehigh/Northampton).
"With college tuition continuing to rise, these jobs are a great opportunity for students to help fund their education," said Harhart. "I encourage interested students to apply now for these limited summer positions."
Candidates must be 18 years of age or older and enrolled in college for the fall 2009 semester. This requirement does not apply to non-student applicants. The positions are full-time, and will pay $11.32 per hour. These positions start as early as April 1, 2010, and last through the entire summer.
The deadline to apply is Jan. 22, 2010.
Students will spend most of their time working outdoors, augmenting regular maintenance crews on projects throughout each county. According to PennDOT, there are no positions available in the southeastern counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery or Philadelphia.
Applicants are asked to apply online at www.employment.pa.gov and click on "student summer employment."
