DUI charges from Tamaqua stop

A Tuscarora man is facing charges of DUI (Driving Under the Influence of alcohol) and careless driving following a traffic stop by Tamaqua Police on Dec. 14 at 3:30 a.m.

Milton J. Drum, 35, of 26 Catawissa St., was driving south on SR309 (N. Railroad St.) and made a right turn onto Route 209 (West Broad Street) when he was stopped by police in front of 105 W. Broad Street, who observed the front bumper of the Oldsmobile Alero dragging along the roadway.

After being stopped, Drum was observed to have a strong odor of alcohol detected from his person. He was given a field sobriety test, which he failed, police said.

Drum was transported to Coaldale for a breath test, which he refused to take.

Charges will be filed with Magisterial District Justice Steven Bayer, Tamaqua.
