Pennsylvania State Police gearing up for Camp Cadet program

Published December 31. 2009 01:02PM

Pennsylvania State Police Troop "N" is once again sponsoring Camp Cadet. Camp Cadet is a fun, week-long summer camp designed to give young people a better understanding of law enforcement activities in an actual state police training school.

Participants can witness helicopter and canine demonstrations and learn about martial arts, drug awareness and more.

Boys and girls are eligible to attend. Attendees must be between 12 and 14 years old and be in good physical condition.

Children must live in Lower Luzerne, Carbon, Columbia and Monroe counties.

The camp fills fast so parents are encouraged to pick up applications at the Pennsylvania State Police stations in Hazleton, Bloomsburg, Lehighton, Fern Ridge and Swiftwater.

Applications are also available at schools in the any of the aforementioned counties.

Deadline to submit an application is March 31.

For information, contact Troopers Shannon M. Yorke at (570) 459-3857 or Rob Ruckle at (570) 582-1089 or (800) 772-3356.
