During the third year of opening its doors to area youths, the Free Kids' Lunch Programat McDonald's in Nesquehoning. drew 154 children. Todd Sheckler, general manager said, "He is looking forward to next year again and is very appreciative of the companies who supported the program."

Jim Thorpe National Bank contributed $200 and Mauch Chunk Trust Company gave $75. The rest of the program was funded by the lunch program at the Meed's United Methodist Church. Nelson Randolph and Pat Hershey from the church presented free back packs filled with goodies to the children. Each child received a free Happy Meal, and McDonald's fork and spoon plus many other free toys.On hand for the day were Ronald McDonald and Grimace.

Scott Kavlick, owner of McDonald's, gave the meals at a discount and Sheckler is hoping that next year they will once again have financial support to run this program.

Until then, the Methodist Church will strive to feed all of the hungry children. While children are off from school during the Christmas holiday, the church will feed the children on Thursday, Dec. 31.
