VFW ladies
The Ladies Auxiliary to Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008 will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the post home. President Cathy Sommers will preside at the session.
District 20 President Karen Bandzi will be present to inspect the auxiliary. All members attending are requested to bring a dessert item. Following the meeting, a social hour will be held.
All those planning to attend the annual Christmas party on Dec. 8 at Lengyel's Restaurant at 6 p.m. should contact Maureen Hirochek at (570) 669-9578 as soon as possible. Deadline for reservations for the party is Dec. 1.
Golden Agers
The Oct. 20 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers opened with an appropriate reading by Vice President Shirley Pavlick. President Ronnie Bazik led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by singing "God Bless America".
Louise Searfoss read a funny article "The Pillsbury Dough Boy".
The current Hospitality Group will remain for November and December. All members enjoyed a Halloween Treat to celebrate upcoming Halloween. Cards will be sent to those on the sick list.
The next meeting will be held at St. Joseph Hall in Summit Hill on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. Anyone 55 and older is encouraged to join.
Costume winners
Seventy-five kids attended the Halloween Party on Saturday at the Nesquehoning Recreation Center. There was a coloring contest, and pumpkin decorating along with the costume contests.
