Sokol club
The Citizens Sokol Club of Nesquehoning will hold a meeting for nomination of officers on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. All regular members are urged to attend.
Veterans run/walk
The Panther Valley Running and Fitness Club has announced that the 11th Annual Veterans Day 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m.
Race headquarters will be at the Summit Hill American Legion Post 316. For more information contact Joe Mogilski at (570) 645-2170.
Woman's club
At the Nov. 2 meeting of the Nesquehoning Woman's Club, the club voted to donate $25 for Wreaths Across America to the Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008. The group will place wreaths on the graves of soldiers on Dec. 12 at Fort Indiantown Gap.
There will be no meetings in January and February due to the weather conditions during those months.
The Christmas dinner will be held at The Lantern on Dec. 7. Reservations can be made with Joyce Bond until Nov. 30. The cost is $25.
Christmas gifts for Weatherwood and the Geriatric Center at St. Luke's Miners were discussed. Maureen Ouly will check for gloves for the Panther Valley Elementary School at the auction. Carol Zickler will purchase three poinsettia plants for the shut-in members.
The next executive board meeting will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at the home of Joyce Bond.
The entertainment was Wreath Making by Maria Mihalski.
