Board of Health
The November meeting of the Tamaqua Board of Health was held at the municipal building with Randolph Gormley, Earl Boettger, Shirley Becker and Health Officer Judith Hadesty R.N. in attendance.
The board received a report from Health Enforcement officer James Barron, who reported making five spot check inspections: BPO Elks Lodge 592; Soley's Cafe; Pine Street Pub; St. Jerome's Regional School; and Primitive Methodist Church. He also received and adjusted seven complaints: four for rubbish or garbage; two possible infestations; and one strong odor.
There were no cases of reportable diseases for the month of October.
Veteran's parade
The annual Tamaqua Veteran's Day Parade, sponsored by the Tamaqua American Legion, will be held this Saturday, beginning at 1 0 a.m. at Maff Motors. All veterans are welcome to participate, whether they walk or ride in their own private vehicles. Anyone planning to participate should be at Maff Motors by 9:30 a.m.
Tamaqua Mayor Chris Morrison encourages residents to line the parade route in support of the men and women who serve(d) in the U.S. military.
Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m.
Activities for next week include: Tuesday, Prayer Time at 8:30 a.m. and GriefShare at 1:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry, prayer and adult Bible study at 6:30 p.m., parenting class at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, hoagie making at 7 a.m.; Saturday, Praise practice will be held at 9 a.m.
Trinity UCC
The Rev. Dr. David Grant will officiate at the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Trinity United Church of Christ. The service will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Nursery care is available during the service. Sunday school classes will meet at 8:45 a.m.
Activities for next week will include: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, rummage sale; Wednesday, Bible study at 7 p.m.; Thursday, Confirmation class meets at 4 p.m., Senior Choir rehearsal at 6 p.m.
Rush watchdogs
The Concerned Citizens Watchdog Group of Rush Township will meet on Nov. 12, at 7 p.m., at the Hometown Fire Company. All township residents are welcome to attend.
Calvary Methodist
The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school for all ages will be held at 9:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, an hour of praise, worship and Bible study will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Prayer and Share services are held Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
The annual Thanksgiving End Harvest service will be celebrated, in an old fashioned mood, on Nov. 22, at 6:30 p.m.
