Burglar scared off by homeowner

A would-be burglar was scared off by a homeowner in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 5:45 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, at the home of Andrew Weaver, 193 Grove Rd., village of Pitman, Eldred Township. Troopers said the suspect used a gardening tool to smash the glass on the rear kitchen door of the home to gain entry. Once inside the suspect began to rummage through the kitchen but was scared off by Weaver, who was home at the time.

The suspect ran out the front door on foot. Nothing was apparently taken in the incident, troopers added.
