Crashes probed
State police at Lehighton reported on three crashes investigated by troopers on Friday, Nov. 6.
A crash occurred about 3:50 p.m. at Church Road and Beers lane, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Joan E. Gorman, 26, of Effort, was stopped at a stop sign on Beers Lane operating a Saturn SL. She proceeded to pull onto Church Road attempting to make a left turn while Sayre Snyder, 26, of Palmerton, was southbound on Church driving a Forf F-150 pickup truck. The truck struck the Saturn causing a "T-bone" collision, troopers said.
Gorman was not injured but a four-year-old girl in a rear booster seat sustained a mnior injury while a one-year-old male, in a safety seat, was not injured. Snyder was also not injured.
Damages were termed heavy to the front fo the Saturn and minor to the front of the Ford.
A crash involving a deer occurred about 6:48 p.m. along Hatchery Road, a mile and a half north of the Penn Forest-Towamensing township line. Troopers said Melanie Stauffer, 44, of Coplay, was driving a Kia Optima northbound when the deer entered the road in front of her. The Kia struck the deer causing moderate damage to the front of the car. Stauffer was not injured.
Troopers probed a one vehicle crash about 9 p.m. along Behren's Road, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Anthony C. Dawson, 20, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica eastbound when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a concrete bridge abutment.
Dawson sustained a minor injury and was transported to the Blue Mountain Health Systems Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton, by the Lehighton ambulance. Troopers were assisted at the scene by Penn Forest Township Fire Company volunteers.
Troopers added that Dawson was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
