Minor injury in Monroe mishap
A driver was slightly injured in a one vehicle crash that occurred about 1:40 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, along SR209 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.
State police at Fern Ridge said Michael M. Maynard, 81, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2005 Hyundai Elantra southbound following another vehicle. Maynard turned to the right to avoid a veihcle stopped on the road and struck a wood landscape retaining wall and then a business advertising sign.
The impact with the sign caused the Elantra to flip onto its roof where it came to rest. Maynard was treated at the scene by West End ambulance personnel for a minor injury.
Troopers also investigated a crash about 9:36 a.m. on Friday along Effort Neola Road, in Jackson Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Mary O. Hetboer, 56, of Stroudsburg, was driving a 2003 Honda CR-V eastbound and lost control while negotiating a left curve near the intersection with McIlhaney Road. The Honda went onto the south berm and lost traction in the dirt. The vehicle continued back onto the road and crossed the westbound lane. The Honda then went onto the north berm and struck a tree.
Hetboer sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
