Boy Scout James McElhenney of Jim Thorpe was presented with a citation for personal valor. The presentation was made by Hawk Mountain Council executive Robert F. Meinholtz. McElhenney, son of Mr. and Mrs. James R. McElhenney, was honored for saving his ill grandfather, Joseph Fabian, of Jim Thorpe, "from death or serious injury," when he assisted him from the path of a runaway oil truck that crashed into the porch of Fabian's home.
