Community Thanksgiving Service
All are welcome to attend the Community Thanksgiving Service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at the First Baptist Church, corner of Main Street and South Second Street, Slatington. Please bring a nonperishable food offering for the Northern Lehigh Food Bank.
Share your nativities
The 10th annual Nativity Open House Display will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, Route 248, Cherryville on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is a lovely spiritual free event with refreshments available.
They are anticipating over 300 nativities of various sizes and made of various materials (wood, ceramic, wax, hand-sewn and more). Anyone from the community willing to share your nativity with the church for the weekend is invited to do so. They will welcome both indoor and outdoor sets. This display is a great way to start the advent season and help to remember the real reason for the season. Northern Lehigh Community Center
The next Northern Lehigh Community Center 2009 meeting dates will be at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17. They meet at the Vigilant Fire Co., Walnut Street, Slatington. The public is encouraged to attend.
Northern Lehigh Community Center (NLCC) is asking the public to please save "Moo caps" from Turkey Hill gallon milk containers. This is an ongoing fundraiser for the NLCC. Please call (610) 760-0300 to arrange for pickup or drop off of the milk caps.
Northern Lehigh Food Bank
Northern Lehigh Food Bank, 7884 Center St., Emerald is open on Tuesdays 9 a.m. to noon. Food distribution is the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Thursdays from 4-7 p.m. and the last Saturday of the month from 9:30 a.m. to noon. For additional information please call (610) 767-9525.
The food bank offers a special shopping bag of Thanksgiving fixings to its clients. St. John's United Church of Christ, 15 South Second St., Slatington is part of that provision is 300 cans of carrots. Please bring them to the church by Nov. 16 so they can be distributed to their clients by Nov. 23.
