Schuylkill County commissioners' meeting moved to Thursday

Because Veterans Day was observed as a holiday the courthouse in Pottsville was closed today and the county commissioners, whose regular meetings are on Wednesday, will be meeting Thursday morning.

On the agenda is a motion to adopt the preliminary budget for 2010 and Paul Strata, budget director, who prepared said, "it will be brutal." Also, the commissioners are planning to borrow $8 million to carry them over the first few months of 2010 until tax monies are received.

The commissioners also plan to honor Paul Raymond Russell, New Ringgold, on becoming an Eagle Scout.
