The Tamaqua Senior Citizens group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., in the Tamaqua Community Center, located to the rear of Boyer's Food Mart.
Last week's meeting was attended by 65 members. One new member, Alberta Everhart, was welcomed. President Jean Yanick conducted the business session.
Eleanor Roberts offered the invocation. Secretary Eleanor Schmerfeld offered her weekly report. The membership total has reached 189.
Vice President Jean Behr reported sending get well cards to the members on the sick list. Treasurer Dolores Walck offered the monthly report and provided inspirational readings. Halloween treats were distributed to all in attendance.
Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.
Rush watchdogs
The Concerned Citizens Watchdog Group of Rush Township will meet this Thursday, at 7 p.m., at the Hometown Fire Company. All township residents are welcome to attend.
Calvary Methodist
The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Lay Leader Terry Gerber will offer the message. Sunday school for all ages will be held at 9:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, an hour of praise, worship, music and Bible study will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Prayer and Share services are held Wednesdays at 7 p.m.
The annual Thanksgiving End Harvest service will be celebrated, in an old fashioned mood, on Nov. 22, at 6:30 p.m.
The Sunday School's annual Christmas program will be presented on Dec. 13, at 10:25 a.m. This will be followed by a fellowship dinner/party. For further information, call (570) 668-3359 or 668-4459.
Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m.
Also on Sunday, there will be a worship service at 2:30 p.m. at the Hometown Nursing Center.
Activities for next week include: Tuesday, Prayer Time at 8:30 a.m. and GriefShare at 1:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry, prayer and adult Bible study at 6:30 p.m., parenting class at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, Praise practice will be held at 9 a.m., PLWG will meet at 10 a.m.
St. Peter's
The Rev. Rodney Wells will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, the Church Board will meet at 10:45 a.m., the Confirmation Class will meet at 1 p.m., and a Service of Remembrance, sponsored by St. Luke's Hospice, will be held at 3 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Monday, newsletter deadline is 9 a.m.; Tuesday, Women's Association of St. Peter's meeting at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, Prayer group meets at 5 p.m., Brownies meet at 6:30 p.m. and play rehearsal will be at 6:30 p.m.
The choirs rehearse on Thursdays. Next week's schedule will include: Cherubs rehearse at 6:30 p.m., Junior Choir at 7 p.m. and Senior Choir at 7:45 p.m.
Dinner Theatre performances will be presented on Nov. 20 and 21, at 6 p.m.
