Come walk with Bud Kresge through the Gilbert cemetery

Published November 12. 2009 05:00PM

If you are interested in local history you won't want to miss "A Walk Through the Gilbert Cemetery" with William "Bud" Kresge and company on Sunday Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. Rain date is Nov. 22. There is no fee.

Bud and his son, Tom Kresge, own and operate Kresge Funeral Home in Brodheadsville. The family business has laid to rest many residents of the area in this cemetery, plus it is the home of the Kresge Monument depicting a scene of an Indian attack on the forefather of the Kresge dynasty in the area. It is also home to the Kresge mausoleum where the late Sebastian Spering Kresge is buried, the founder of S.S. Kresge stores that was later developed into K-Mart.

Come hear Bud relate local history through the people who once walked, worked and lived in the West End and the world.
