Recycling schedule questioned in Walnutport
At Walnutport's regular meeting of council held Thursday night Annette Lacko, who is the borough's secretary/treasurer, reported that she has received several complaints about the recycling only being collected every other week instead of every week, as it has been.
"People need to understand all haulers need to pay to get rid of recycling anymore," Councilman Matthew Newhard said. "We're trying to save the taxpayers money."
In other business, Council decided to turn the lights on the Walnutport Playground's basketball court off from December to March, Council granted conditional preliminary/final approval to Pencor Service, 241 Lehigh Gap St., for lot consolidation and a 15 spot parking lot plan and Newhard said that the Centennial Committee has $12,568 and its savings account and $25 in its checking account and that the Centennial Committee will be keeping the accounts until at least next summer. They're currently discussing buying something for the borough with the money, and they're also discussing giving the remaining History of Walnutport books to local non-profits for them to sell.
